About Paul:

Born and raised in the Mendips, Cllr.Paul Cannon has lived at his current address near Wookey Hole for more than 30 years. A career journalist, he started out as a local newspaper reporter before moving into radio and television.

Later he went on to edit various BBC network titles - including Countryfile, Farming Today and Costing The Earth - plus a range of flagship political output. Paul joined the council shortly after the death of his son, Jack, aged 32, in 2019. Also as a way to keep busy he signed on as a volunteer Mendip Ranger at about the same time.

When not engaged in those activities he plays sax in various local bands and organises live music events. His current 'big gig' is developing the Wellspring Project, to ensure the post covid recovery of live music performance in and around Wells.
