Further communication with Avon & Somerset Police
A letter was approved at Full Council on 30th June 2025 to write a follow-up letter, after yet more thefts in Polsham, Wookey Hole Cricket Club and East Horrington.
Acknowledging that Sergeant Lancey, who had met with our Chair, Cllr Jacqui Zorab, was working with extremely scant manpower, a further letter was sent to Portishead HQ. A response is still awaited.

Rural Thefts: Parish Council action
Following the recent spate of thefts in East Horrington, Easton and Rookery Farm, the Parish Council on Monday unanimously agreed to write to the Assistant Chief Commissioner for Avon & Somerset Police.
The Parish Council are acutely aware of the distress theft causes and that resident anxiety is rising; we have pressed the ACC for some crucial answers as well as hoping to understand rural policing...

Road markings - are white lines on your local roads worn and faded?
Somerset Council are looking for warmer-weather opportunities to provide lining orders to their contractors. Lining orders are instructions to freshen up faded and worn road markings.
Please have a look around your communities for examples such as the above on Wookey Hole Road. Somerset Council will arrange for works to be done but they will need photos and precise locations.

The Parish Council meet regularly to approve applications for both Community and Environmental grants. These grants must have a benefit to residents within the parish but can be for a wide range of resources.

Digging deep (ish) at Coxley Recreation Ground!
Residents, councillors, staff and coordinator Kate, with help from colleague David from the Reimaging the Levels programme, helped organise tree-planting on the banks of the River Sheppey recently and a thoroughly productive time was had by all!
The planting was designed to secure even further the bank soil after some erosion works was completed in the summer and the bank graded more gradually to allow...
